| | | Speckled Wood Are speckled wood butterflies becoming more common?
A couple of weeks ago I spotted a butterfly in the back garden that I had not seen before which turned out to be a speckled wood.
Since then I have seen another two in the garden and a few more in the nearest part of Epping Forest to me.
From what I have found they are common butterflies, but I have not seen any before this year - just wondered if they are becoming even more common. Are they a butterfly success story?

| | | Re: Speckled Wood I have had quite a few in my garden this year. There is a bit of a shrubbery at the bottom and one in particular patrols the area, even driving off bees and other butterflies. He's still around but looking a bit tatty now.
