Where to see Purple Emperors?

Could someone point me to the nearest place to Hayes in Middlesex that I might have a good chance of seeing Purple Emperors at the moment? Would also help if the location is a nice place for a family walk too

Sightings are posted on the Hertfordshire and Middlesex branch of Butterfly Conservation website.

I saw purple emperors starting from the west car park at Broxbourne Woods two years ago on July 4 2009.

I can pinpoint a location in Broxbourne Woods Nige if you need me to. I have visited many a car park and realised lately that I should have looked up at the right time and weather conditions.

Kool thanks guys, Broxbourne Woods might be a bit far but I'll see what people want to do, I'll definately pop along on my own at some point though. Weather doesn't look too great this weekend either though

Bricket Wood (between Watford and St Albans) is reportedly to have purple emperors, but we didn't see any on the recent guided walk.

Ruislip Woods would probably be your closest, though the viewing area isn't as good as other sites where I see them. I saw 2 last month; a friend of mine saw 3 males the day before + saw one there last Friday, though I suspect they'll be over soon as they were around early this year.
