| | | Unkown butterfly I was photographing silver washed fritillary butterflies today, when i came across this butterfly. I cant put a finger on it but it looked a different species of fritillary. slightly smaller and with white edging to the wings.ive looked up pearl bordered and small pearl bordered but it appears to be a little late for them. Could this be a dark green fritillary ?. The site i visited is lower woods in gloucestershire. |

| | | Re: Unkown butterfly Yes I would also go along with a very nice specimen of Dark Green Fritillary.
These are the reasons for me!
1) The general straight line alignment of the dots. (compared to HBrown)
2) The general roundness of the forewing outeredges (compared to the slightest of dips half way on the outer edge of the forewings which you would get with a High Brown.
Pearl Bordered have finished up here (South Lakes), but we are still getting plenty of Small Pearl Bordered.
