This Speckled Wood caught my eye on the ground of a car park, surrounded by woodland, in Ringwood on Sunday.
It's wing appears to either be broken or it's freshly emerged & the wing hasn't unfurled itself properley yet!?
Looking very worn, I assume from all the fluttering around it was doing, it didn't make it off the ground the whole time I was watching it.

Hello Cordaline,
Your Speckled Wood was damaged after full wing expansion possibly by a bird or perhaps some form of motor vehicle. Such things happen, sadly. When wing veins are damaged they permanently damaged and do not self repair.
