| | | Habitat Creation: Grizzled Skipper and Small Blue We spotted nineteen different types of butterfly on cawstongreenway.org last year. http://www.cawstongreenway.org/butterflies.html
We are creating habitat that will encourage Grizzled Skipper and Small Blue. Probably get Dingy Skipper too.
We are opening up some good sized glades that we hope will grass over and I did plant some Agrimony seeds last year. We already have Dog Rose, Bramble and Wild Strawberry, plus I have sown a lot of calcareous seed mix in the clearings. The Skippers have been spotted north of the greenway on the next nature reserve and Butterfly Conservation are doing loads of work trying to establish new colonies of Small Blue south of the greenway. We have an opportunity to create a corridor to link up the north with the south.
We also have a fantastic project with the borough council. We are creating a wildflower meadow on grassland that lies between the greenway and ponds and reed-beds.
You can see details of what we are doing at Cawston Greenway's Blog. Please feel free to offer advice or direction. We are a new group so any help will be gratefully received

| | | Re: Habitat Creation: Grizzled Skipper and Small Blue I for one applaud your work, SomeMight. Well done for the hard work you are putting into this. It is not only the butterflies that do and will appreciate this.
