| | | New Butterfly Guide With Xmas around the corner a lovely new butterfly book just out. If like me you already have so many butterfly books you may think, do I really need another, but when I saw this book I was totally seduced.
It's Butterflies of Britain + Ireland (A Field + Site Guide) by Michael Easterbrook published by A+C Black + has Butterfly conservation endorsement.
Personally it's a bit bulky for use as a guide in the field + my first choice for a UK field guide will always be the BWP Lewington boook, but this new guide is filled with some of the most beautiful photos (several for each species) I've seen in a book of UK butterflies. Lots of info on ID, habitat, conservation, finding the butterflies + some interesting historical background- for instance I never knew the Marbled white was originally called a Half-mourner, As suggested by the title lotsa of suggested sites around the country.
Be seduced like me- this is a truly beautiful book! |
