Butterfly for ID
I think this is Small Copper but the markings do not fully agree. I realise there are local variations but is my ID correct?

Yes this is a small copper in my opinion,there is not really anything to confuse it with in the uk.

Small Copper looking a bit faded probably why your markings don't fit exactly

The markings look pretty much identical with the small copper illustrated on the Field Studies Council Guide to Butterflies of Britain...just that your specimen's colour is more subdued than in the illustration.
