| | | Re: Frittillary Butterfly No it was at witherslack woods Cumbria an excellent place to see this species. I was just trying out members id skills. I have the underside of this one showing extra set of spots not found on Dark green. |

| | | Re: Frittillary Butterfly You didn't see any silver washed whilst up there by any chance? Witherslack is supposed to be a good spot and I'm always telling myself to go up for a look in season and never do. Arnside Knott is a splendid place to test i.d skills on high brown and dark green.
This is an interesting one too as I have never seen one with the 'third spot' totally absent.

| | | Re: Frittillary Butterfly I've only seen S.W.Frit in small numbers in witherslack but there is a site close by that has been managed for S.W.F. part of the site is on private land. Butterfly Conservation north west branch sometimes have field trips to this site. Contact stevedoyle44@hotmail.co.uk he produces the news letter. You can ask to be added to mailing list.
P.S. Dogghound a High Brown was found in Hamsterley Forest last year but we think it was an illegal release. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
