| | | Ringlet Query Saw this Ringlet (and others like it) in the old Chalk Quarry, Portsmouth.
Looking at the 'eyes', in particular the lower group on the hind wing, the middle one has a black line from the circle. Is this a variant?

The underwing spotting in the Ringlet is infinately variable. You could catch and examine a hundred specimens on one site and you wouldn't find two exactly alike.
There are many named variants.
