Black eggs on vine - are they butterflies?

Hello lepidopterists. I'm hoping someone can answer a question for me.

I have one of those Russian vine things coming over my fence from next door's garden. I've found a lot of what look like small black eggs along the stems. These bits are overgrown and need cutting back, but I don't want to kill off anything interesting that might hatch. Are these eggs likely to be moth/butterfly caterpillars? And if so can I prune these bits and leave them on the ground in the garden somewhere, without killing off any caterpillars?

They wont be butterflies. Could be moths or other insects for that matter, can you get a photo?

If you cut the part of the plant with them on they will more than likely die as the leaves will dry up and die so they wont have food, young larvae often struggle to disperse and find more food.
