I am participating in the Big Butterfly Count between 24th July & 1 Aug - and thought some of you may also want to part of the count / conversation of Butterflies - its totally free and only requires 15 mins of your time -

I will certainly have a go but I will need to have any white butterflies i.d.first as I am rubbish at them.

If you follow the link to the 'Big Butterfly Count' there is a great pdf id sheet that you can print off to help with the whites, it has open and closed wing shots.

Thank you for replying - I am no good at identifying but as mentioned above - there is a fabulous help chart on the link posted - it will help you identify your findings - and you submit your findings via the link too

I will definitely give it a go, I was butterfly spotting at the weekend so any excuse to go again

Also it is good to know that I can buy a Colin the Caterpillar cake from M&S and donate to butterfly conservation

I'm in! Don't know much about butterflies, but it seems a good way to learn, as well as useful for conservation.

Yes a comma and the ID one looks like an old Ringlet.
