Yes burnished brass was suggested in the moths thread too.Hi Metalmoth ,i went to a woodland site with many white admirals on 2 accasions in the last few weeks and could not get a good photo.But I only saw 2 white admirals at this site but they were feeding on very low brambles along with hundreds of silver washed fritillaries and i managed some good close ups.Guess thats the way nature is,unpredictable .Thanks for your comments folks .I highly agree this wood (lower wood) is a 5 star site for silver washed fritillaries as stated on the uk butterflies web site.I saw hundreds of them,lovely butterflies and the first i have ever seen.I saw many doing a courtship display with i guess its the male jinking up and down closely behind the female while in flight..Great to see
