I'm not from the area ,but if you have a look at UK butterflies, you will see that Leigh woods has them(but isn't rated),but Lord's Wood near Pensford is rated as a four star site.If you look at UK Butterflies ,you will see some other sites around you.Hope you get them.
Cheers Jason. |

| | | Re: silver washed fritillaries in glos/somerset Thanks for your replies with suggestions,i eventually found a great spot called lower wood, run by the gloucestershire wildlife trust.I found silver washed frits all over the place, some white admirals, white letter hairstreak and many many more eg common blue, ringlets gatekeepers, skippers(hundreds),brown argus, peacock, red admiral..An exellent place that i can highly reccomend.I will try to take in the suggested sights though.
thanks again

| | | Re: silver washed fritillaries in glos/somerset Just seen some silver washed at Goblin Combe today. Not loads but they were about (horrible weather but did get a short sunny spell).
Also common blue, brown argus, small skips, small copper, speckled wood, ringlets, meadow brown, large whites and possibly some more |
