More Skipper confusion - ID?

I posted one a few days back which was identified as a large, but this one looks a little different. I'm confused as to the differences between large and small :/

I'm fairly sure this is male, due to the band. But what distinguishes large from small?

This is a male Large Skipper,the black line on the wing is the sex brand.Note also the hooked tips to antennae and the light mottled pattern near the sex brand/black line on the wing.

Hi simples,the mottled light markings on the wings and a larger sex band on males are typical large skipper.You can see the mottled effect on your recent photo's underwing.Small skipper should be on the wing now or very soon.

I've circled on your picture where to look for for the light mottling/chequering on the Large Skipper,it might make things a bit clearer than my description.
