Black butterfly, multi spots red hind wings - help identifying please
I found this little chap tangled in some spider web outside the house. (Wiltshire)
I'd estimate 30mm long, a dark solid black colour to body and wings with yellow spots to the fornt, and white / cream larger spots to the rear of wings. two yellow spots on body near head. he brielfy opened his wings out and underneath was a strong red, possibly with some black spots...
to be honest I don't even know if butterfly or moth so apologies if I have made a basic error!

You've found a splendid Scarlet Tiger Moth - Callimorpha dominula.

Thanks you... he was very handsome and hopefully he was uninjured and able to fly off to happier times!!
