| | | Butterfly for id please When i took this picture i first thought it was a Silver Washed Frit but it is obviously not, i feel i should know the name but just cannot think what it is (Memory is not as good as good as it used to be) please can anoyone help.

I,m inclined to agree with aeshna5, pearl-bordered being the front runner.Pity about not having a closed wing shot as alot of information is often shown that will reinforce the species. |

According to a freind who lives on the edge of this particular bit of woodland it is almost certainly a large pearl bordered as that is the predominant species this time of the year apparantly.

| | | Re: Butterfly for id please Up here in Lancs at this time of the year, most of the pearl bordered have gone and the small pearl bordered are on the ascendancy, so I'd be inclined to say small pearl bordered is the more likely, especially as the 'season' down there is further on than up here.
