Found this female holly blue today,it was having a battle with a fly for the right to sunbath on the leaf.The fly would land on the leaf and crawl towards the Holly blue butterfly as if too scare it off , but the holly blue would sharply open n shut its wings scaring the fly off.This happened over n over again. But the butterfly held firm and allowed me some shots with wings open,which is not common for these flutterbies  .  |

Shame that you were unable to get a pic of the fly. It may have been a parasite or more likely just attracted by the blue colour.

The fly is in the photo dave,although blurred in action.I watched it a good while,pretty sure it was more a territorial battle though. | | |
