| | | Orange tip butterflies Are there more of them this year? I have seen 3 this year without looking for them and I have only seen a couple in my lifetime. Recently I have been asked to identify this butterfly by people who have never seen it before. |

| | | Re: Orange tip butterflies Hi, I only saw one this time last year. I can recall because I made my other half wait whilst I photographed it in a lay-by.
This year, I have seen at least two on every walk I have been on for the last few weeks. We live near a meadow and have had them in the garden too

| | | Re: Orange tip butterflies That's what I've been thinking too! Each year I only see one every now and then, but I've had 13 sightings upto now in the area this year.

| | | Re: Orange tip butterflies Females look like Green Veined Whites so often go unnoticed. They prefer damp meadows where one of the cattipillars food plants Lady Smock can be found in abundance. They also use Garlic Mustard the underneath of this butterfly blends in with the flower head of this plant. They can often be found in dull weather perched on the top of this flower. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
