| | | Re: swallowtail best sites in norfolk Spoke to Strumpshaw Fen RSPB they confirmed they are on the wing now.
They said they are only around for a few weeks. That would have them gone by mid June or so. Anyone know how long they are out for ?
I live in the North West of England and would love to see one but the weather is never right and it seems this year is the same cloudy right now.
Thanks |

I've put the 10 year flight times up as a graph here: Butterflies of Norfolk - Species - Dingy Skipper
(The photo's taken at Strumpshaw by the way). Basically you have the whole of June, with mid-June your best option. The walks/events for Swallowtails are now:
Hickling Broad NWT 1pm 5th June
Wheatfen Swallowtail Day 10-4 6th June
Catfield Fen 13th June 10-4
Strumpshaw Fen 13th June 11 - 3
and a dragonfly/butterfly walk Strumpshaw 20th June 2 - 4.30pm
*here is Great Yarmouth, 15 miles east of strumpshaw. |
