Brown Butterfly for ID plse

Could someone help me with this one please?
Otherwise today after sightings of Peacocks, Sm tortoiseshell, Sm white and Comma last week. This week has been this one above, orange tipped and speckled wood

Also I saw a fast flying yellow butterfly today. The time of year would tell me a Brimstone but it really did look a lot more like a clouded yellow (quite small) ?

I thought you might like to see the colour variation in the true species here in the south

Here is another one taken on the same day...which is a bit less colourful.

After spending ages last year trying to identify blues by counting spots, you can perhaps see why I was a little confused with the differences between these two.
