Newly Hatched Butterfly Help!!!

I meant normally as in 'every year some are seen', rather than 'the majority begin hatching': I'm not disputing that the main emergence is March-April; indeed, I mention it in my first post. BC's earliest sightings page (First sightings 2009 & previous - Butterfly Conservation) has the first 2010 sighting as 19th Feb, 2009 was 26th Jan, etc.

thought you might like an update on this 'Woody' is looking very faded and tatty now - can't fly at all and is very very weak, but she loves to sunbathe and still feeding enthusiastically at nearly 7 weeks old! I've nicknamed her the duracell butterfly! Her home is on my kitchen windowsill, and I tend to her daily, much as you would a delicate houseplant

Shame she's so weak now as quite a few Speckled Woods are on the wing now.
