| | | Clouded Yellows A while back I read somewhere that it was predicted that there would be an influx of these buterflies to our shores thistyear - well they passed me by - until today
Went down to Lepe near Southampton to do a walk from one of my books and we saw 20+ of them. Never seen them before.
All just a bit too far away for me and my camera though but they were lovely to see.
Lots of butterflies out today, Whites of all persuasions, Speckled Woods, a couple of Blues and a Gatekeeper and when I got home there was a Comma and a Red Admiral in my garden.
Nice end to the summer |

| | | Re: Clouded Yellows I haven't seen 1 since mid August, but Butterfly Conservation have had lots of new migrants of Clouded Yellows in the last couple of weeks along the south coast from Kent to Cornwall, with most numerous sightings in Sussex where several hundred have been noted.
There are also new arrivals of Red Admiral + Large White which are still heading north instead of south!
Also unusual for time of the year has been a second brood of White Admiral in some places. |

| | | Re: Clouded Yellows I saw several over the weekend down in Dorset.
I did post one into the Gallery but I must have got something wrong cos it got deleted
However, I was really pleased to get some pics. Here in Shropshire I have only seen three all year and didn't get anywhere near enough to take a photo

| | | Re: Clouded Yellows It certainly seems to be a good year for them - especially now - with lots of sightings along the south coast and inland too. I saw a few in south Oxon in mid summer (and hear many anecdotal sightings too) but my parents who live in Dorset only saw them in any great numbers fairly recently. |

| | | Re: Clouded Yellows Yeah, I'd expected it to be a good year for them but as yet I haven't seen any It hasn't been that great a year for migrants in the moth traps either to be honest. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
