| | | Re: Verbena Bonariesis for butterflies I have found that it doesn't like shady places at all. I planted it all around the garden and in some areas it has thrived and grown like a (most welcome) weed but in the north and north-north-east and north-north-west of the garden the plants were very poor and failed to thrive.
It takes easily from stem cuttings, which is a blessing.
I plant it right up to the front of the flower beds and it doesn't over power the other plants. |

| | | Re: Verbena Bonariesis for butterflies Ours loves full sun and self seeds like billyo, but it can be rather tender to the cold. Last winter wiped mine out, but with it self-seeding so freely it's not a problem.

| | | Re: Verbena Bonariesis for butterflies We planted a big clump we grew from seed 6 years ago. After three years none re grew in the garden but it lines the farmers track behind our house just growing from the gravel.it still attracts loads of butterflies and looks beautiful and as we only have a smallish garden it leaves us room to grow other things! Lovely plant. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
