| | | A few butterfly id confirmations These photos were taken this evening at a reserve in Berkshire, all in a wildflower meadow. I know they possibly aren't the best angle but it was all I could get! Can anyone confirm my tentative IDs or tell me where I'm wrong?
Thanks in advance
Is this an Adonis Blue? It would stay still with it's wings open but was very blue in flight.
I think this is an Essex Skipper?
Is this a common blue?
And I have no idea what this is

| | | Re: A few butterfly id confirmations i think the first one is common blue based on the pattern of spots on the wings. the third one looks like chalkhill blue to me, again based on the spots. not sure about number two - it could be an essex...and i think number four is a meadow brown. hope this helps. sarah

| | | Re: A few butterfly id confirmations I would say both blues are Common, agree with Essex Skipper + last is indeed a Meadow Brown. |

| | | Re: A few butterfly id confirmations just be glad that you have several species to see.
Up here in the frozen north we basically have Common Blue with the occasional Small Blue & even more rare Holly Blue colony & a few more Northern Brown Argus. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
