Common Blues
Usually here on the Lleyn Peninsula the Common Blue butterflies are in short supply but yesterday they were everywhere on the cliff paths and along the edges of puplic footpaths. Has anyone else noticed a sudden jump in numbers.

Agree it's been an excellent year for Common Blues around me.

Conversely after a reasonable spring brood, I've seen few 2nd brood Holly Blues. Perhaps this is due to their parasitoid wasp as numbers do occasionally crash + numbers have been high in recent years.

I have also seen quite a number of Common Blues, especially females, over the last week or so.
