| | Lost Enthusiasm?? Hiya
My husband has been interested in butterflies for years and only in the last few weeks have I joined in his butterfly spotting.
The other day we were out walking and I was getting all excited about spotting the white butterflies and he just dismissed them as common.
Tell me, do you all lose your enthusiasm and only try to find the unusual? |

| | | Re: Lost Enthusiasm?? Hello butterflypyne & welcome to WAB I have been looking closer at wildlife over the last 2 years but have always been interested. I am always pleased to see anything! It is always nice to see something abit different but I think you can still get so much pleasure out of seeing the more `common species` These common species may not be so common sooner than we think

| | | Re: Lost Enthusiasm?? hiya Butterflypyne and welcome to WAB. With me I don't think it's a loss of enthusiasm with the commoner species, but I do tend to get more excited about the rarer ones. I know it's not a loss of enthusiasm because through the winter I'm looking forward to seeing any butterfly regardless of species.

| | | Re: Lost Enthusiasm?? I can understand him. Up my way there are hundreds of White Butterfies flying at the moment and anything with a bit of colour is out of the ordinary.

| | | Re: Lost Enthusiasm?? Hi butterflypyne and a warm welcome to WAB
I certainly don't lose enthusiasm even for the common species.
In fact I enjoy the challenge of photographing the whites as they are a little more difficult to photograph due to the white colouring, and I'm always trying to get a better photo than I already have.
Sure it's great to see and photograph new species and the buzz you get from seeing a new one is great but I still get lots of pleasure from seeing and photographing the common ones. |

| | | Re: Lost Enthusiasm?? I find that if I see a lot* of a single butterfly in a single day by the end of it I'm a bit blase about that/those species but next time I'm out I'll be as happy to see them again.
* e.g. on relatively recent individual days I've seen over 100 of Painted Lady, Ringlet & Small Heath. |  | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
