| | | Butterflies and Help with Gallery Please Hi,
I recently had these photos rejected from the Gallery and I am wondering why, as they seem to meet the guidelines for posting.
I am not saying they shouldn't have been rejected, but I am wondering what I did wrong. I'm new to wildlife photography and perhaps I misidentified them. The first one I think is a Red Admiral and the second one, a Comma. I also used the scientific names in my Gallery post, though I can't remember them now. So, I was just wondering if anyone can give me some tips and advice really.

We don't usually allow forum discussions about editor decisions as we can't comment on every image and it's unfair to expect the editors to justify their position...it's always subjective and so someone is bound to disagree with whatever we say
To be honest, I don't think the photos really make the grade. The non-natural background in the first photo doesn't really do it too many favours, and the second photo looks as though the file has camera shake
We continually raise the bar in the Gallery to try and make sure that only really good photos make it in, but the good news is that there are plenty of members in the photo forums who can give you lots of tips for getting really good shots

| | | Re: Butterflies and Help with Gallery Please OK, thanks Stu. I see what you mean, though I thought they were good photos. Still, I accept the decision. I see this Gallery is probably a bit like airliners.net where they have very high standards and more images get rejected than allowed. That's ok if that's how it is. I am always willing to learn, so I'll try to do better next time
Phil

| | | Re: Butterflies and Help with Gallery Please It would be really good to know why - perhaps just a line in the email to indicate quality, naming, not usefull for identification or something like that. I now look to see how many and what quality the existing photos are, but dont let that put you off trying |
