Help with butterfly ID for beginner

I'm normally into bird photography, but yesterday took these pictures of 2 butterflies. They were taken in an open area in a wood. I think one is a comma, but no idea about the other. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Thanks Cheryl. In the small book I have, which is not very good, there are a few types of ringlets and 2 types of comma. Are these just the ones called ringlet and comma??

As far as I am aware, we only have one Comma. We have two Ringlets - the bog-standard Ringlet and Small-mountain Ringlet. Maybe with regards the Comma, they're including sub-species... though I couldn't say how many we have even then!

Is it a book of European butterflies by any chance? Perhaps it mentions the Southern Comma aswell? though we don't get that species in Britain. There are lots of species that are called ringlets in Europe most of them in the Erebia genus, but these are unrelated to the species known as the Ringlet, the Mountain Ringlet that Jason mention is one of those Erebia species.

Thanks for comments and, of course, you are right. It is a book on European Butterflies, so most of them are not in UK. Thanks for clearing this up.
