I would be interested to know whereabouts on Bookham Common they can be found as well. I was there yesterday and saw dozens of Fritillaries and White Admirals, but no sign of the emperors. |

My first was over a path near the station; we had excellent close views of a female inspecting sallows near Merrit's Cottage, 2 males over the famous lek which is c100metres or so from 100 Pound Bridge + we saw another 2 males over some oaks between the last site mentioned + Merrit's Cottage.
Plenty of White Admirals, Silver-washed Fritillaries + Purple Hairstreaks too. |

No luck last year, I am hoping to get out and about this week, has anyone seen any Purple Emperors actively flying at present and if so where? |

I would be surprised if there were any about now, the caterpillars for next year's butterflies are in their first instar.
