I saw a few of these a few days ago and have never seen them before or since. I have tried searching to ID this but without success. This was shot in South East England. If anyone can shed some light I'd be grateful. Thanks.  |

A Cinnabar Moth. The yellow + black striped larvae feed on Ragwort. |

Wow, that was quick. Thank you so much. I have no idea about butterflies and moths but I sure thought this looked like a butterfly of some sort. Anyway, thanks again 
EDIT : to compound my embarrassment I see someone has just posted a thread about the cinnabar moth in the moths sub-forum

Anyway the distinction between butterflies + moths is a rather artificial classification. | | |
