Oh, but I do remember that the LOVE melon skins with a bit of flesh left on them - we put some on the bird table that same summer and had lots of butterflies visit  .

i got to work today to find one in our shop window!,
i had to dismantle half the window display so i could catch it!
there was then a steadly flow all day flying past the shop,the high street is only a 5 min drive from the coast so they are still coming in |

| | | Re: Painted Ladies Bring them on (together with the hot summer)! I think the butterfly summer referred to was 2003. I counted 20 Painted Ladies in my buddleia one evening in July. I haven't seen any yet here in Hull though.

Here's a couple of photos of one taking a drink of water in joins of cobbles(used bigma handheld cos I didn't have time to set camera on tripod in case it flew away lol):- |
