i saw a couple the other day and my neighbour was in the forest today and reported seeing 10+ in a short time. |

| | | Re: Painted Ladies there everywhere in crawley today, 17 on one cotoneaster bush plus several flying around. On a short walk at midday i saw around 30 painted ladies and around 20 speckled woods, 1 peacock and 6 small blues. |

| | | Re: Painted Ladies Yes, today was a day to watch visible migration of insects. Painted Ladies have been streaming though all day- most just heading NW, though there were 2 feeding up in my garden this evening on Dame's Violet + Erysimum "Bowle's Mauve".
Wherever I went today there they were en route to who knows where- in the park, across meadows + even along the high street. Must have seen at least 60 today + if I'd stayed looking, I'm sure many more.
Given I've only seen 1 in each of the last 2 years in the UK (seen plenty elsewhere) it's grea to see so many. Hopefully some other species will come in too- any mothers catching some obvious migrants at the moment? |
