| | | Butterfly ID confirmation Could a Flutterby expert check this image please
I thought it was a Brown Argus but someone had queried this suggesting it maybe a Common Blue female? |

I'd definitely go with Brown Argus, Kev .... I think the orange markings give it away .... |

| | | Re: Butterfly ID confirmation well ?....thats not so definate as the common blue fem looks very very similar complete with the orange marks....studying both pics in my guide it was a hard pick but i do say brown argus too ...but if there was slight evidence of white to the bottom of the orange dots with black centres then it may of been common blue fem and maybe a hint more blue in the wings nearer the body. |

| | | Re: Butterfly ID confirmation I've never seen a common blue with such deep and complete marking on the upper wings, plus theirs no evidence of blue on the body, which every female common I've seen has. Brown Argus gets my vote. |

| | | Re: Butterfly ID confirmation yes im only going by the pic on the aidgap fold out field "Guide to the butterflies of great britain"....you know? the kind of folded laminates you can buy....and i think the pics are somewhat misleading colour wise on these guides..But yes i agree i would have wanted more blue in the wing for common blue... |

Similar, but not the same, in my view - and your quote re the white bits etc is a good indicator also ... |
