Green-veined White Butterflies?

Hi there,

Found these 2 yesterday and assumed that they were on the mate and still assume that However a bee came along and spooked them out and when they landed again i saw that the one at the bottom seemed no longer to be moving. Is this normal behaviour and that one of the pair, male or female was rendered motionless in the throws of passion or had one of them sadly passed away and got stuck

They could of course be doing something completely innocent, they could be stuck together for a completely different reason, siamese maybe

Be good to have some info

p.s, just checking - are they Green Veined Whites?

Yes they are GVW's and they are in copulation (mating) It is quite normal for the male to hang on like this until business is finished. The time varies from species to species.

So the one not moving (hanging on if you like) would have been the male?
