| | | Re: pink butterfly?? As Lance says, there aren't any butterflies in Europe with only pink wings, it's probably a moth. Although it's unlikely to find them by day, and you'd probably call them red rather than pink, what about the Ruby Tiger? UKMoths - Ruby Tiger Phragmatobia fuliginosa

| | | Re: pink butterfly?? Definitely neither of those moths - it was very bright pink, and had a black body with black markings on the topside of the wings and completely pink on the underside. It didn't have any furry bits like moths have. |

Have you tried a burnet moth 5 spot maybe these are red or pink underwing and black and red on top. |

Although you can't see it in the picture, the underwings are all the same pinky colour as the patterns on the upperwing.

| | | Re: pink butterfly?? I don't think it was this moth, the "thing" that I saw I didn't hink had so much black on it, all I saw was a very bright pink, if anyone can post a picture of this moths underside wings then that may help, as what I saw was just small super bright pink wings as it landed but I seem to remembe them being the same on bth sides & not seeing any other colour although I may be wrong here as the colour just stunned me |

Guy | I think looking at that pic now that most of these sighting are The Cinnabar Moth. |

| | | Re: pink butterfly?? So does this moth come in bright pink? It was the colour of the Small Elephant Hawkmoth above, that colour pink but the wings as it settled were all pink with no markings as I remember, it was quite small with the wing shape of the Cinnibar one, my huband says it's body was black but he says it's neiher one above. Just to let you all know who read this I know nothing about moths or butterflies & just found this site through Googling, I'm quite facinated now though! Surely there is a website somewhere or an expert that can help further? I'm dying to find out what it is | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
