Hey Missy - WOW - now that is the closest match I have seen so far! But yes, it definitely had black body etc.
But at least someone is trying instead of taking the p***, thank you. I will keep looking for my elusive 'barbie'.
G.
n.b. I have now seen the same type of butterfly/moth 3 or 4 times in my Mother's garden, I have also seen the cinnebar and various others there - I guess we must be doing something right with our wildlife/insect/bird friendly garden up in Norfolk?
p.s. I tried to get photos, but my phone camera is awful and has not even managed to pick up the fact there is a butterfly/moth in the frame let alone what colour/shape/size etc... I'll keep trying, maybe get a decent camera.... but flying/flitting tiny pink thing not the easiest of photographic subjects....

Or has all evolution just stopped now that man thinks everything has already been categorised/discovered....?
I don't mean to be rude in reply... but it seems like a sweeping statement to make? |

I don't mean to be rude in reply... but it seems like a sweeping statement to make? | They evolved, this is quite different from hybridizing with other species. A new species doesnt necessarily occur when species A breeds with species B. It occurs when the population of species A is fragmented and different environmental factors cause it to turn into species A and species AA.
Its not a sweeping statement its called evolution. Do you think that a red admiral bred with a painted lady to create a small tortoiseshell? it doesnt happen this way. |

| | Re: pink butterfly?? Well I saw a really pretty small dark pink, almost red butterfly with solid colour in both sets of wings and the wings were framed with black. I have never seen anything like it before hence looking up google images to see if I could find it. It was in Hounslow in my mum's garden which is on the A4, Great West Road near Heathrow Airport. She does have a lilac bush and other flowers. Any suggestions welcome! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
