pink butterfly??

The one I saw was not a postman - did not have those lovely black markings - thanks Christine for getting the picture there.

Hi mayormaynot, sorry it wasnt the postman...but has anyone thought that perhaps the pink butterfly is a mutant ie lost all of its other colours but just the pink remains, long shot but I guess in this day and age with all the chemicals flying around the country, it is a possibility I shall continue to keep my eyes open during web searches for pink butterflies...

Pink & Mauve what i have to believe is a british moth the elephant Hawk a magnificent pink body and wings! I have only come across it once in my life with mauve trimmings as it was spotted if you get me. large creature amongst most other moths and not too disimilar to the one that can be viewed not so many posts up. You will not come across this moth all to frequently like other moths which are quite common and it's a true beauty. The one i spotted had it's abdoman eaten away but was still alive!

I have been away and have returned and read with interest the postings on the 'pink butterfly'!!! I have not seen it again, nor discovered what it is, but am on a new tack!!!!! Can only say that the one I saw was NOT a Spanish Moth, a Postman, a Gypsy Moth nor an Elephant Hawk Moth!

No I can say the one I saw was none of the above either, it was quite small as I remember. I wish it would come back & clear this up once & for all

Ok, this is my final suggestion, then I'm giving up How about Rosy Footman.

One possible problem with this though is that when this thread started was early for them to be flying.
