Not too good with butterflies! Spotted this fellow in my garden and he obligingly stayed put for a photo! I think the markings and colours of the wings are beautiful. I did not see the open wings. I think he was sleeping!

im 100% with the others, a female orange tip it is, as you can see by the green mottled underwing. This is plain white in pieris (white) species.

Wow I've never seen an orange tip in my garden nor taken a photo of one before.

Now to find out the caterpillar's food plant just in case!

foodplants are cuckoo flower, garlic mustard, tower mustard and other crucifers. |

just googled it what a fascinating butterfly.
Mine was on sweet rocket is there a good chance it might have laid eggs?
I shall have to keep a look out for caterpillars!

Yes larva will feed on this plant so hopefully you may get some.. |
