Peacock butterfly sighting
Hi All,

I saw my first butterfly of the year this morning: a Peacock, which was basking in the sunshine near to Mount Pleasant, Newhaven.

No moth sightings to report other than the 4 Light Brown Apple Moths (Epiphyas postvittana) and 1 Mottled Umber that I had on the night of 31st December. Other than that, nothing since way back in November.

Seems like a few warm hours wakes them up.A bit like my Red Admiral on New Year's Day.

Yes both overwinter as adults. So the warmth brings them out. quite afew plants in flower around me too, although no butterflies as of yet.

I saw a butterfly today, no postive ID as it wizzed past teh window but i think it was a peacock or red admiral. Woken up by someones central heating or just the warm day i guess
