| | Black Butterfly Hi Im New On Here And Registered Because There Was An Enormous Full Black Butterfly In My Garden About 20 Mins Ago ! Can Anyone Give Me Any Info On Them And Where They Originate From.

This Was 100 % Black And Had What Looked Like Black Stems On The Bottom Of Each Wing... There Is I Exact Pic Of It On Google If You Search Black Butterfly.. The Pic You See On There Is The Exact Same As Was In My Garden !! Thats Why I Thought You Lot Could Help Me.

Where do you live. If in UK it could be an escaped or released papilio swallowtail type. Do you have a butterfly farm nearby. Can you give URL of butterfly identified on google. |

| | | Re: Black Butterfly The only other thing I can suggest is that it is an escapee from a butterfly breeder. If so, I'd doubt if it would last long as those butterfly houses are hot.

P.S. I DONT KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY BUTTERFLY FARMS NEAR ME...I HAVE A SERIOUS AMOUNT OF WILDLIFE THAT VISIT MY GARDEN FREQUENTLY.
AS WITH REGARDS TO THE BUTTERFLY FARMS I WOULDNT HAVE A CLUE HOW TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS ONE NEAR ME.... ANY SUGGESTIONS ????

I dare say if you typed pigs can fly into google you would get a picture of a pig with wings. Doesnt mean they exist.
Also strikes me that you have made your mind up already so I'll go with your suggestion that it is that well known species...............
