Can you identify this butterfly for me please?
Please can anyone identify this butterfly for me? I took the photo yesterday. It's slightly out of focus as it was moving around very quickly and it soon vanished. I have searched this site to try and identify it myself but no luck so far.

Almost certainly a Magpie Moth I'd say.

yup. i concur. most definitely a magpie moth. very nice photo as well! i've never managed to snap one of them, even though i've seen a few. they never sit still long enough!

I've just looked up 'magpie moth' on the internet and it certainly is one!
Spotted near Land's End yesterday and it was beautiful.
