| | | Orange-Tip butterfly I was lucky enough to see 5 or 6 of these today. My question is, have they got any legs?. I followed each one for about 2 or 3 hundred yards and not one of them landed once. If any of you Butterfly experts know what plant, flower or runway they land on can you please let me know.
I stand more chance of getting an inflight shot with my 70-200 f2.8 than a static shot with my Macro lens.

Dai | I know exactly how you feel Dai, had much the same experience myself today several on the wing but only one landed and that was inaccesible as far as a photograph goes. There will always be another day but I had the same problem last year and never got a decent photo.

| | | Re: Orange-Tip butterfly As well as Lady's Smock + Garlic Mustard mentioned above they will occasionally use a few other crucifers too, including Dame's Violet (Sweet Rocket) + Honesty in the garden. Each female lays only one egg usually on each plant, though other females may come along + lay on it too + the larvae can then be cannibilistic!
One of my favourite butterflies-haven't seen any yet myself this season, though we had 8 butterfly species on a local walk to Horsenden Hill earlier. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
