Rushed the post out without reading it through so sorry for omitting what I was trying to say. |

Jim | I haven't even been able to comment until now as Little Mele's descrptions sickened me to the core. Kayleigh sums up my sentiments perfectly.

| | | Re: Badger baiting case at paradise farm, howsham I am not a holier than thou sort of person and always try to understand other people and not pass judgement on things I don't agree with. But I can't get my head around badger baiting.
I just don't get it all. I have tried to learn more, distressing as it is, and I am speaking about this "sport" in general not one specific case, and from what I have learned, for some participants its the testing of the dog's strength and courage against a worthy foe such as a lactating badger sow.
Okay, one dog, one badger, equal size, equal number, one to one, but no, that's not the way it is, the badger is always outnumbered.
According to Folklore, again which I have tried to research, during the TEASTAS MOR, badgers were rarely hurt, so how has it evolved into such barbarity, when we as a human species are supposed to be far more civilised than our ancestors. I am at a loss as to what to think. |

Owning a dangerous dog is illegal, training a dog to deliberately kill or maim should see a real custodial sentence. |

| | | Re: Badger baiting case at paradise farm, howsham BBC News - Dangerous dogs sentencing guidelines toughened
So why do people that deliberately set out to harm wildlife using dogs they have trained to attack and kill get such pathetically lenient sentences? |

| | | Re: Badger baiting case at paradise farm, howsham Has the legal process changed ?
I am baffled why the case was dealt with in the magistrates court, but a judge is quoted as handing out the sentence.
For starters, the magistrates should have been saying they do not have the powers to hand out an appropriate sentence in this case, remanded them all in custody and referred the case to Crown Court - thus indicating the seriousness they view this incident/s.
And did the prosecution appeal the sentence as being too lenient ? Surely there must be enough public outrage to force the prosecution to act ?
