| | | Re: Pretty Sheep Hi Posie and Loripo
I'm glad you like the sheep.
They are a dual purpose breed, bred for milk and meat production so they tend to be a lean large framed sheep with the meat spread out a bit rather than the fatter breeds such as Texel and Suffolk. They are tall for easy access to the udder but we don't milk ours although maybe we should for one or two.
We have 35 ewes to the tup this year so expect maybe 65 lambs starting in late January. We have shown them locally and they often attract interest. They have been bred to be docile and in fact are mostly extremely friendly. The one in the centre of the photo is the best sheep we have bred ourselves. We took her to a show at a sale so had to enter her in the sale as well. Never mind we thought, we'll put on high enough reserve to guarantee that she doesn't sell. Well, she sold. We are still hoping to produce one like her again.
Pictures of our flock can be seen if you do a search on Redgate Zwartbles.

| | | Re: Pretty Sheep Well, well! what are you lot like? I was simply conveying my appreciation of the incredible beauty of our fluffy freinds. Posie my freind, you have warped and sordid imagination. I am most offended by the implication, that my love for 'Woolicus lambicus' is anything other than purley appropriate and professional. Sorry, did i say 'my', I meant my freinds .
I can't help noticing that Welsh lensman is keeping a low profile in this thread!
P.s...does anybody have any idea where one can buy oversized wellies for under a tenner?? |
