| | | Beach Fishing Hello all,
I am hoping to give some sea fishing from the beach a try this winter. I'm based in Sheffield so could go East or West coast from there. Where would you recommend as, not just a good place to fish from the beach, bust also a decent place to go walking (i.e. a bit of terrain and some good views)?
Thanks in advance! I'll try and leave all the techy tackle questions for a fishing thread!

| | | Re: Beach Fishing Most of the popular east coast beachs are producing some decent cod at the mo squid tipped with lug seems to be the bait fished on a pennel rig i lost a cod about 8lb a week or so ago and netted 1 for a bloke on walton pier of about the same size also the whitting are really feeding well due to the amount of shrimps along the east cost its absolutley heaving with them where ever you choose good luk

| | | Re: Beach Fishing If you fancy a bit of flounder fishing come across to Arnside on the River Kent estuary. They are in tip top condition now and will take lug on just about any rig. A three boom rig is favourite. Arnside Knott gives spectacular views and there are two good pubs, The Fighting Cocks and The Albion to cater for the inner man and to celebrate a bumper catch.
Choose a bigger tide (mid to spring) as neaps will not give you much water. Fish from the beach at the end of the prom right down to New Barns Bay and Blackstone Point or from the small "pier" mid prom if there's room.
Ordinary garden worms can be as good as lug at times. Sandside, just upstream, is also fishable over the high water period from the car parked at the side of the road.
Good walks in the area, Whitbarrow Scar and Silverdale, all with cracking views of Morecambe Bay and inland are worthwhile. |

I've found a good site on east coast fishing round whitby and northumberland, too, google whitby sea anglers and you should find it.
I'll let you know how it goes!! |

| | | Re: Beach Fishing I know nothing about beach fishing, but I've seen lots of people doing it from Hunstanton. It was impressive - just how far do they manage to cast?
It does not have the same terrain as Whitby, or the gem that is the Nothumberland coast. Coming from Sheffield I guess you may be in to hills, but north Norfolk is a wonderful area. |

| | | Re: Beach Fishing Hi there Oddgitt, did you manage to get off fishing, i`m from Sheffield too, if your willing to travel, maybe you`d like to try the Conwy estuary, on the castle side, walk along the estuary footpath a way until your near the marina opening, but be warned, you`ll need 8oz grips and dont cast out too far, I had a 5lb Bass here a while ago good luck mate. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
