Malhamdale Falconry at the Saddleworth Show

Yesterday at the Saddleworth Show, I watched a great falconry display and I thought I'd share a few snaps (none of them very good though!). It was great to see the birds close up, although it is sad that they are not able to be free flying in the wild like they should be. Click on image again for higher res

Does anyone know what type of owl pic number 2 is?

Nice pics there James. I'm not sure on the ID of the owl but I have seen it before in sanctuaries / zoos, I know it isn't a UK owl though

Looks like it could be a Brown Wood Owl. Strix leptogrammica - Google Image Search

Well it looks exactly like a Milky/Verreaux Eagle Owl Bubo lacteus - Google Image Search
But those are quite a lot bigger than Tawny Owls so I'm afraid I'm stumped! Out of interest, where was the picture taken?

Quite correct, looked smaller than 66-71 cm to me, and I was sat right in front of it! Good job I'm not a vervet monkey Maybe being in captivity has stunted its growth.
