| | | Re: Phobia of cows As I always walk with my 3 dogs (none of whom are bothered by cattle) you will not find me in a field which contains cattle, unless they are a very good distance away, i've got an escape route and the cattle show no interest.
I was once doing a circular walk with my ex and we got bothered by cows (no calves). They came charging over, almost completed surrounded us and started trying to head butt us. Fortunately we were very close to a gate and so quickly vaulted it and the dogs got yanked through the bars, regardless of whether they would fit! I had left one dog behind who (wisely) refused to pass the cows. My ex made his way back through the herd, slapping and shouting at them, picked up my dog and came back. How he didnt get injured is beyond me but the incident made me even more worried about walking where cows are present.
I understand farmers have a right to graze cows on their land but it does make walking in the countryside bothersome, especially if you are walking a new route. I've been on walks in the Peak District and refused to go any further because the path took us through cow fields. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
