| | | Anticipation of Fly fishing season The expectation levels are once again rising for the approaching fly fishing season. This year I have joined two new fishing syndicates and resigned from one. So this year I have several miles of bank on at least 4 new rivers and streams to explore and a couple of woodland lakes. The rivers are in beautiful unspoilt countryside. I can hardly wait. My how I love this time of year.
I shall endeavour not to fall in and shall make a special effort to return home at the agreed time. My dear wife has learnt that the parting " I`ll only be a couple of hours love" . Is not always the most reliable indicator. God bless her patience. I shall endeavour to stop burning my shirt sleeves on the pipe that frequently falls from my mouth during periods of excitement and will try not to have to refill my hip flask so frequently. I also pray that my enthusiastic 18 month old choccy lab will learn that there are times when she cant go swimming..
Counting the days.....

I can feel a birthday request coming on!! Would I be able to get all the basic half decent'ish gear for around a 100 quid? |

If you go on the auction site and look for fly fishing outfits you will get almost everything for around £80, brand new and good quality too.

| | | Re: Anticipation of Fly fishing season Might have to look into it ron, I am led to believe that it is worth spending the extra cash on the rod rather than the reel, is that right?
We have the river Kennet, Lambourn amongst others near me which are all good for trout, the river Test is not too far away either although I think it costs an arm and a leg to fish it............. |

I would agree that the rod is more important but a good reel is a bonus too. I have a trout river running through my back garden so I am a bit lucky, but then living in Scotland I am spoiled for trout fishing
