| | | Fishing for food In the rivers in my area we have very good numbers of wild brown trout and also good numbers of sea trout and salmon. Im not going to go into recipies as they are very well documented for these species!
There arnt many other breeds of fish, course fish etc so most of the fish I catch are kept for food.
Anyone else catching their supper from the rivers?
I can understand if your local waters are polluted, that you wouldnt want to risk eating the fish!
Also I am interested in making more use of the eel, there are good numbers about, and they are easy enough to trap or catch. Any good recipies etc would be very gratefully recieved.
As would some of your ideas/recipies on other species of fish.
Cheers all, look forward to some replies.

But yes i do catch my own fish for the table.
The only time i eat fish is when i have caught it myself (Sea fish mostly), and this mostly goes for my meat as well. I'm also lucky to work for a fishery, so fresh water species is not a problem for the table, free fishing.

Regards Chris. | Good point Chris,
I have done a fair bit of research into it after reading your post yesterday, its not fully understood why the population is in decline, contributing factors may include polution, and global warming, also the elvers were and possibly still are caught in huge numbers. I find eels most fasinating. And will certainly leave them off the menu for the time being!
Cheers
