| | | Re: Kelly or Eydon Storm kettle I'm trying to choose between Kelly kettles, Eldon ones and Ghillies at the moment. Thinking of going for aluminium (because it's lighter and will heat quicker than the stainless steel) and a 1 litre (medium) to fit in a day sack and make 2 - 4 drinks with and occasional beans/noodles/fried bacon on top.
Anyone got any advice on them? |

I've no experience of Eydon and Ghillies and have had no problem with my Kelly. I must admit there's something about making a brew with one after the performance of getting it fired up.
If you do go for aluminium just remember to store it bone dry to prevent corrosion around the handle rivet holes. |

Trust you're keeping well, Woodman. |

| | | Re: Kelly or Eydon Storm kettle 'Ow bist thou goin' on ole butt? as I've heard said in Zinderford. I've some memories of working for the turnery works in Longhope and my aunt and uncle live in Flaxley. Plus tons of other stuff you don't want to know about!
Anyway, good to see you around again and enjoy your kettle. |

| | | Re: Kelly or Eydon Storm kettle Hi to all from the new boy...
My wife purchased me a Storm Kettle last Christmas, it collected dust for several months then I decided to give it a try and I can honestly say its an amazing bit of kit.... Normally I would opt for a thermos or the local Costa Coffee shop but I must admit the fun I've had with my three sons once removed from the Wii has been fabulous... We recently added a cook set which I purchased from The Storm Kettle Shop website and now we get Bacon Sandwiches too.... I've never owned a Kelly Kettle but I would be more than happy to recommend my Storm Kettle it's awesome and it gets the little darlings out of the house with the promise of a Hot Chocolate, a Bacon Sandwich and even some toasted Marsh Mallows....Bring it on Ramsey (forgot to mention two adults three children a Storm Kettle and some ingredients £50.00 years of fun I reckon, the latest Wii game £39.99 and bored kids in about a week..Thank the Lord for the great outdoors...) |

| | | Re: Kelly or Eydon Storm kettle That's my kind of talk, haywatch! Welcome to WAB and I trust you'll get as much enjoyment here as you do with your kettle.
Perhaps the junior haywatchers might enjoy this forum too if they posted some interesting item found on one of your gastronomic trips for discussion or ID. |

| | | Re: Kelly or Eydon Storm kettle Sounds great, haywatch! Just the sort of thing I had in mind. I ended up ordering a stainless steel base camp Kelly kettle, as we'll probably use it more in the garden and for camping than proper hiking. This reminded me, must chase it up, ordered it back in September. Turned out to be out of stock and still haven't received it. Shame to have missed having it along on all the outdoorsy weekends we've been having this autumn. Got the cook set to go with it, and a nice bag! |

I think they are based in Herefordshire I'll dig out the web address and post it if that helps anyone, Its a shame to miss out on a brew on the hopefully white crisp mornings which I'm sure will be arriving shortly |

The place I ordered from (a different online shop that sells a variety of outdoor/'green' stuff) had one showing in stock, but someone else got it before me. I emailed a complaint that they have had my £60 for 2 months and the last I heard was I should have had it early October. They were apologetic and promise to send me a foraging book along with my Kelly Kettle next week, so am happy and looking forward to finding some food to take home as well as brew up while out in the cold. I almost wish that I had gone for a smaller kettle as d have it by now, and I could take it along on walks...But went for the bigger one as it will hold/heat more water and give us more time to cook something on top. |
